General

Dr. Anastasios Lampropoulos is a certified Orthopedic Surgeon with over 20 years of experience in Trauma and Orthopedics. He is an internationally trained surgeon with education from renowned institutions in the United Kingdom (Leeds), France (Strasbourg), and Switzerland (Basel), specializing in hip and knee surgery. After completing his basic orthopedic training at Asklipieio Hospital in Voula (Athens), he worked for more than 12 years in the UK, where he completed two fellowships in Hip & Knee Surgery. He is a certified orthopedic surgeon in the UK and a member of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA).

He worked for five consecutive years at Leeds General Infirmary, one of the largest Trauma Centers in the UK, under the supervision of Professor P.V. Giannoudis, where complex orthopedic cases and polytrauma patients are referred and treated. Additionally, he completed advanced fellowships, working alongside Professor Martin Stone at Chapel Allerton Hospital in the UK, gaining deep knowledge in diagnosing and surgically managing hip and knee pathologies. He further advanced his expertise through annual fellowships at York Hospital, NHS Trust, improving his skills in Arthroscopy, Revision Arthroplasty, and Trauma Surgery of the Upper and Lower Limbs. To enhance his surgical skills in hip surgery, he completed the AMIS training program by MEDACTA in Switzerland, focusing on hip and knee replacements. In Strasbourg, he further developed his orthopedic techniques related to complex lower limb trauma and intramedullary nailing of femur and tibia fractures.

He has performed over 10,000 surgeries to date, with low complication rates, as per the UK registry. He holds a Master’s degree (MSc.) in Healthcare Management from the Open University of Athens, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Computer-Assisted Orthopedic Surgery, awarded by the CAOS committee in the UK. He has worked as a specialist orthopedic surgeon for the past five years in a significant position at the highest clinical level of the NHS. He is a member of multiple professional bodies such as GMC, BMA, BOA, and MPS, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS).

Since 2019, he has also served as an Honorary Lecturer at the Hull-York Medical School, regularly teaching undergraduate medical students. He has published several papers in journals regarding hip and knee surgery and has presented at, and participated in international conferences. During his latest position at York Hospital, NHS Trust (UK), he was responsible for managing and surgically restoring hip fractures in geriatric patients, following best practice protocols set by the N.I.C.E. Institute, UK.

He has a keen interest in the surgical treatment of hip fractures using minimally invasive techniques (MIS) and has adopted modern and rapid recovery techniques for trauma patients. He has significant experience and training in contemporary hip approaches, including the anterior (AMIS) and minimally invasive posterior (SPAIRE) approaches. In addition to treating traumatic limb injuries in adults and children, his current practice includes Patient Specific Instrumentation (PSI), Robotic Navigated Knee & Hip Surgery, Arthroscopic Surgery, and new techniques involving biological therapies for the preservation of major joints.
